Lynda Keeton Named Red And Black Athlete Of The Year
Lynda Keeton (Senior/ Essex, England) was one of only two University of Louisville student-athletes to receive the Red and Black Athlete of the Year Award. This honor is given every year to two senior student-athletes that excel in the classroom, on the field, and in the community.
Lynda arrived at the University of Louisville from Champlain Junior College where she was named NJCAA All-America and academic All-America. She captained the Cardinals soccer team during her senior year. Lynda also is an active part of CardsCare Community involvement, Special Olympics and coaches local youth soccer.
She will stay on with soccer next year as a student coach/manager. "Lynda is tremendously focused and always willing to help in any capacity necessary. We are lucky to have her as a part of our soccer program and we're glad she will be with us as a student-coach next year" commented head coach Karen Ferguson.
Ten Members of Women's Soccer Make the Athletic Director's Honor Roll
Ten student-athletes made the Athletic Director's honor roll for the fall 2000 semester.
Amelia Buhts (Freshman/Prospect, KY), Dana Elder (Junior/Carrollton, TX), Jordan Fredriksen (Sophomore/Costa Mesa, CA), Jessie Greenwell (Freshman/Bardstown, KY), Ketruah Herron (Sophomore/Richmond, KY), Noelle Hill (Sophomore/San Diego, CA), Lynda Keeton (Senior/Essex, England), Carrie Johnson (Junior/Louisville, KY), Jeannette Molina (Sophomore/Radcliff, KY), and Julie Zastrow (Senior/ Minnetonka, MN) all received the honor.
They were recognized at halftime during a men's basketball game along with other student-athletes also being recognized on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll. This honor is given to student-athletes that have a 3.0 or better G.P.A. for the semester.
Eight Members of Women's Soccer Team Make the Conference-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll
Eight student athletes made the Conference-USA Commissioners Honor Roll for the fall 2000 semester. Amelia Buhts (Freshman/Prospect, KY), Dana Elder (Junior/Carrollton, TX), Jordan Fredriksen (Sophomore/Costa Mesa, CA), Jessie Greenwell (Freshman/Bardstown, KY), Noelle Hill (Sophomore/San Diego, CA), Lynda Keeton (Senior/Essex, England), Carrie Johnson (Junior/Louisville, KY), Julie Zastrow (Senior/ Minnetonka, MN) all received the honor. The commissioner of Conference-USA gives this award to student athletes based on their overall G.P.A..
"We are very proud to have so many of our women's soccer student-athletes honored with this prestigious academic award. We take tremendous pride in our academic success" commented Head Coach Karen Ferguson.
Seven Members of Women's Soccer Team Named Red and Black Scholar Athletes
Seven student-athletes were named Red and Black Scholar Athletes.
Amelia Buhts (Freshman/Prospect, KY), Dana Elder (Junior/Carrollton, TX), Jordan Fredriksen (Sophomore/Costa Mesa, CA), Noelle Hill (Sophomore/San Diego, CA), Lynda Keeton (Senior/Essex, England), Carrie Johnson (Junior/Louisville, KY), Julie Zastrow (Senior/Minnetonka, MN) all received the honor. This award is given to all student athletes that maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.25 or higher. The Red and Black Scholar Athlete awards were presented during a February 18th banquet which was attended by all honorees as well as one invited professor of his/her choice.
Five Members of Women's Soccer Team Named to the Dean's List
Five student-athletes were named to the Dean's List from their department of major for
outstanding academic achievement. Amelia Buhts (Freshman/physical therapy/Prospect, KY), Jordan Fredriksen (Sophomore/undecided/Costa Mesa, CA), and Carrie Johnson (Junior/Business/Louisville, KY) all received this prestigious honor.
Noelle Hill (Sophomore/ justice administration and Spanish /San Diego, CA) and Lynda Keeton (Senior/ Sports Administration /Essex, England) were named Dean's List Scholars for achieving a perfect 4.0 G.P.A. in their department of major.
Hill maintains a 3.74 cumulative G.P.A. and intends to pursue a career in the F.B.I.. She will attend law school after graduation.
Keeton maintains a perfect 4.0 G.P.A. and will pursue a career in sports administration upon graduation. She took a big step toward that goal this summer when she assisted at the Gold Cup this past summer at Papa John's Stadium. She assisted the US Women's National Team and the Chinese Women's National Team with game-day and practice preparations.
