Baseball Again Victimized By Big Inning

The Louisville Cardinal baseball team fell to Cal-State Northridge 17-8 Monday night in California. A ten-run fifth inning that featured a three-run home run by Matador(7-2)second baseman Jason Gorman and a grand slam by shortstop J.T. Stotts shattered a 3-3 tie.
CSUN opened the scoring in the first off Louisville starter Denny Williams(0-1) on a three-run home run by third baseman Robert Smith. The Cards(0-3) answered with three in the top of the fifth on a sacrifice fly by senior Mike Hook, an error and an RBI double by third baseman Mike Budak.
After the big fifth inning for Northridge, Louisville picked up five runs on a two-run single by outfielder Dave Williams Jr., and a three-run home run by Budak. Budak was 3-for-5 with four RBI. Second baseman Matt Jarboe, DH Bill Gatti Jr. and Williams each had two hits for the Cards.
A solo homer by right fielder Jeremy Hanson and another three-run shot by Gorman wrapped up the scoring. Craig Mosher(1-2) picked up the win for Northridge.
Louisville will face Pepperdine in Malibu on Tuesday at 5:00, with Mike Tisdale(0-0, 0.00) taking the mound for the Cards.
