Louisville women’s soccer head coach Hunter Norton is pleased to announce the addition of Mitch Hepburn as an assistant coach to the staff in March of 2026. Hepburn comes to the Cardinals after spending the previous four seasons as an assistant coach at Dayton.

During Hepburn’s time with the Flyers, he worked within all areas of the program including on-field coaching, video analysis, GPS sports performance monitoring, gear and equipment oversight, and served as the Recruiting Coordinator.

In each of his four seasons with the Flyers, they won 10 or more games in each season. In 2025, the Flyers won the Atlantic-10 tournament and reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2016. The Flyers had a 15-game unbeaten streak heading into the NCAA Tournament. In his first year with the Flyers, they won 16 games and reached the Atlantic-10 championship game. It was their most wins in a single season in over a decade.

Prior to arriving at Dayton, Hepburn served on the staff at Eastern Kentucky University under head coach Matt Cosinuke for two seasons. In his second season with the Colonels, Hepburn helped improve the team to a nine-win season while advancing to the ASUN Conference Semi-Final in the program's first season in the conference. In his two seasons at EKU Hepburn coached four All-Conference players and three ASUN All-Rookie team members.

Hepburn’s first stint on the staff at Dayton came in 2019, when he was the director of operations for one season. Hepburn also coached club soccer in Dayton and was a US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program Administrator for regional, national, and international events.

Hepburn, who holds a United States Soccer Federation "D" license, has also coached elite youth players as a staff member of the Ohio North Olympic Development Program, numerous clubs in northeast and Southwest Ohio, and high school coaching experience at Stow Monroe Falls.

As a collegiate player, Hepburn played his first season in 2013 at Division II Belmont Abbey College before transferring to the University of Akron and joining the program from 2014-2015.

A native of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Hepburn earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management in 2017 from Akron. He earned his master's degree in Sports Science from Akron in 2019.
