Junior: As a junior, Nolan was a part of the distance corps for the Cards. In the dual season, he handled the 500-, 1000- and the 1650-freestyle regularly with a highlight coming at the UofL Invitational when he finished second in the 500 with a time of 4:29.63. He competed at the Arena Pro Series in the 400-free with a 4:07.22 in the finals. He also swam in the 1500-meter final with a 16:57.58. He served as the SAAC representative for swimming and diving.

Sophomore: Nolan swam distance freestyle events for the Ville. Nolan record his best time of 15:58.81 in the 1650 free at the Louisville Invitational. Against Cincinnati, Nolan was the third Cardinal to finish in the 1650 free with a time of 17:01.71. Also against the Bearcats, Nolan was the fourth Cardinal to finish in the 500 free with a time of 4:48.96. At the Cincinnati meet, he finished 6th in the 1000 free with a 10:05.50.

Freshman: Smith added depth for the Cardinals with a fifth place finish in the 1000-free against Indiana and taking sixth in the 1650 free at the Michigan Invite at a time of 16:06.21.

Prep: Nolan Smith hails from Louisville, Kentucky where he swam for Cardinal Aquatics and Ballard High School. Smith's personal best finishes are fifth in the 500-freestyle and eighth in the 200-freestyle at the Kentucky High School State Championships.
