Sophomore: Ryan's sophomore year proved his best in his career as he added depth in the Cardinal men's diving team. At the Cincinnati dual mee, Ryan had his highest finish of the season for 3rd place with a 248.70 on the 1-meter spring board. He also had his highest score of the season at Cincinnati on 3meter at 280.58. Ryan placed 6th and 7th on the 3-meter and 1-meter springboard at the Tennessee dual meet with scores of 221.25 and 210.15. At the Notre Dame dual meet, he had his season best score on 1-meter of 261.45 for 8th place. At the Kentucky dual meet, Ryan placed 6th in 246.83 on the 3-meter spring board and 9th on one-meter in 209.55. In Ryan's last meet of the season, he competed against Indiana and placed 11th and 12th on 1-meter and 3-meter springboard with scores of 228.00 and 264.76 respectively. At the Purdue Invitational Ryan earned 266.20 on 1-meter and 231.40 on 3-meter.
Freshman: Ryan competed as one of three divers at the BIG EAST Championships. Ryan finished one spot shy of making the consolation finals in the 3-meter competition with a score of 219.90. He bounced back on 1-meter, by finishing fifteenth with a score of 226.65. In dual meet action, Ryan finished third on 1-meter and fifth on 3-meter against Cincinnati. He also competed against UK where he posted scores of 215.32 (1-meter) and 206.86 (3-meter). Ryan competed at the Indiana University and earned 216.83 on 1-meter and 262.5 on 3-meter.
Prep: Diver Matt Ryan joins the Cards from Castle High School in Newburgh, Ind. A high school All-American and member of the Indiana Dive Club, Ryan was the 2010 Southern Indiana Conference champion on the 1-meter springboard. He also made semi-state his first three years. In 2011 Ryan was SICA Champion, and placed 11th at state his senior year. He also holds the Castle High School and Warrick County six and eleven dive records.
Personal: Son of Chris and Ron Ryan. Born July 29, 1992. Major is biology. Ryan has two sisters; Jessica, plays softball at Austin Peay State University, and Jennifer cheers at Western Kentucky University.
