Junior: Over the 2011 summer, Bandy qualified to compete at the Olympic Trials in the 200-meter fly with a time of 2:03.34. At the BIG EAST Championships, he competed as a non-scorer in the 500-free, and 100- and 200-fly. He recorded a personal best time in the 100-fly with a 49.96. In the 200-fly he finished in 1:48.15. In the fall, swam to a personal best time in the 200-fly of 1:48.09 at the Tennessee Invitational. Bandy finished the 1-2-3 sweep in the 200-fly against Cincinnati and Eastern Michigan and finished fourth in the 1000-free against Pitt. Sophomore: Bandy had strong performances against West Virginia and Pittsburgh. Against Pittsburgh, he finished second in the 1000-free with a time of 9:30.52. In the same event against West Virginia, he finished with a time of 9:33.03 to come in third. During the BIG EAST Championships, Bandy competed in the 200-fly and 500-free. In the 200-fly, he finished with a time of 1:51.63, and in the 500-free he clocked in at 4:29.14.
Freshman: As a freshman, Kevin competed in the 1650-free at the BIG EAST championships. He finished second in the 1650-free against Kentucky with a time of 15:50.50. Kevin also placed third in the 1000-free against Notre Dame.
Prep: Kevin came to the Cardinals from Coral Springs, Fla. helped lead his high school team to state championships in 2006 and 2007. He was a four-time relay state champion and a ninetime high school All-American. Captain and three-time MVP of Stoneman Douglas high school swim team as both a junior and senior years, he was third in the 200-free and third in the 500-free at the Florida high school state meet in 2008. He was a four-time Pinch-A-Penny All-Area 12 team and was named a three-time All-Broward County team by both the Sun-Sentinel and Miami Herald. He swam for Coral Springs Swim Club.
