Junior: As a junior Kohoyda qualified to compete in her second NCAA's, where she swam the breaststroke leg of the 200-medley relay that took 25th. She also qualified to swim the 100- and 200-breaststroke taking 48th in 1:03.39, and 45th in 2:14.45. At BIG EAST, Kohoyda was the fastest Cardinal in the 100- and 200-breaststroke swimming season best times, in the 100 where she earned a fifth place finish in 1:01.96, and was third in the 200-breaststroke in 2:12.10 earning her All BIG EAST honors. She earned All BIG EAST performer in the 200- and 400-medley relays swimming both breaststroke legs that took second. At the Purdue Invite, she took first in the 200-breaststroke in 2:13.60. Kohoyda swam at the Charlotte UltraSwim where she made the A- final in the 200-meter breaststroke and placed 8th in 2:36.34 just off prelim time of 2:35.65. She also made the B-final in the 50- and 100-meter breaststroke taking 16th from prelim times of 34.09 and 1:11.97.
Sophomore: Gisselle became the highest finisher in Louisville Women's Swimming and Diving history at the NCAA Championships when she placed fourth in the 200-breast in a time of 2:07.87. She was named a NCAA All-American after this performance. She also made the consolation final in the 100-breast where she placed 16th in a time of 1:00.45. She set a new school record of 1:00.45 in the same event in the prelims session. Gisselle competed in the 200-IM as well as the 100-breast and 200-breast at the BIG EAST Championships. In the 100-breast she finished second with a time of 1:00.20 and qualified for the national B-cut. In the 200-breast she was the BIG EAST Champion finishing in a time of 2:07.69 which was a national A-cut, automatically qualifying her to compete in the NCAA Championships. She was named an All-BIG EAST performer in the 100 and 200-breast and as a member of the 400-medley relay. Gisselle had an outstanding fall at the AT&T Winter National Championships where she finished ninth in the 100-breast and 5th in the 200-breast. Her time of 2:26:56 in the 200-breast ranked her 26th in the world. At the All Sports Banquet in the spring, Gisselle was awarded the Female Sophomore of the Year alongside of fellow swimmer Joao De Lucca and basketball star Gorgui Dieng as the male recipients.
Freshman: Gisselle performed well against Tennessee with a third-place 200-breast finish (2:18.64). During the BIG EAST Championships she competed in the 100- and 200-breast. In the 100, she had a time of 1:02.26 and finished fifth, and in the 200, she had a time of 2:12.13 and took fourth. Gisselle made the national B-cut in both events.
Prep: Gisselle is a native of Midland, Michigan and joined the Cardinals after swimming for Midland High School under the tutelage of Coach Carol Boychuck. She was also coached by Betsy Kolm at the Barracuda Swim Team. Gisselle competed at the Speedo Series Sectional Championships winning the 200 LC breaststroke in a time of 2:35.53, setting a new pool record at Miami of Ohio University. She was the only high school aged swimmer to win an event during that championship. She is a 2008 Michigan High School State champion and currently holds four Midland High school records.
