Junior: In his junior campaign, Dexter added depth in the breaststroke events, specializing in the 100 and 200 breast races. Dexter had his best showing at the Louisville Invitational in which he recorded B-cut times in both breaststroke events. He had the second best time in the 200 breast with a time of 1:58.83 and finished fifth in the 100 breast with a time of 55.16. Against Cincinnati, he was fourth in the 100-breast (58.33) and third in the 200-breast (2:06.46). He competed at the USA Short Course Nationals with his best finish coming in the 200-breast finals when he finished 23rd and 2:00.36. He competed in the 200-breast at the USA National Championships, boarding a 2:21.39.

Sophomore: Dexter specializes in the breaststroke races. He adds depth to the Cardinals in the 100- and 200-breaststroke. During the regular season Dexter had his best swims at the Michigan Invite, posting times of 56.43 in the 100-breast, and 2:02.55 in the 200-breast. He also went a 1:55.10 against Tennessee in the 200-IM. As an exhibition swimmer at the AAC’s, he recorded his season-best times of 56.16 in the 100-breast, 2:00.89 in the 200-breast, and 1:50.91 in the 200-IM.

Freshman: As a freshman, Dexter Thomas competed in the BIG EAST Championships as an exhibition swimmer. He swam a season-best of 57.47 and 2:03.92 in the 100- and 200-breaststroke respectively. In the 200-IM, Thomas swam another season best of 1:52.75. At the Purdue Invite, Thomas scored points in three events for the Cardinals. Thomas won the B-final in the 100-breaststroke in 58.02. A time of 2:05.82 was Thomas' 200-breaststroke to place him 11th, and the 400-IM, he placed 14th in a time of 4:03.71. Dexter also qualified to swim at the Charlotte UltraSwim where he placed 34th and 35th in the 50-meter and 200-meter breaststroke in a time of 30.89 and 2:26.93 respectively. He swam the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:07.50 and the 200-meter IM in 2:12.30. In the dual meet season, Dexter Thomas took fourth in the 200-breaststroke in 2:06.24 in the meet against Kentucky. He is also named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.

Prep: Dexter Thomas came to U of L from Springdale, Ark. and the Razorback Aquatic Club Aquahawgsv where he swam for Scott Berry. He set team record in the 200- and 400-IM and was a multiple state champion. He still holds the state record in the 200-IM and holds all the high school records. A multiple time Junior National Qualifier, Thomas also owns a Senior National qualifying time in the 200- breaststroke. A standout in the classroom, Dexter also boasted a perfect GPA.
