Bio
Junior: Aguilera added valuable freestyle depth to the Cardinals’ lineup during his junior campaign. He posted three top-8 finishes throughout the abbreviated dual meet season, highlighted by a third-place showing in the 200 freestyle against Cincinnati. He also finished seventh in the 200 freestyle against Kentucky and took eighth in that event versus Notre Dame. At the UofL Invitational, he recorded three season-best times in the 50, 100, and 200 freestyle.
Sophomore: Aguilera continued to provide the Cardinals with valuable sprint freestyle depth as a sophomore. He won the 200 freestyle (1:36.97) at the UofL First Chance Invitational where he also placed third in the 100 freestyle (44.12). Aguilera raced to fourth in the 100 freestyle (45.86) and fifth in the 50 freestyle (21.06) in the dual meet against Northwestern and had a pair of top-8 finishes versus Notre Dame. For his performances in both the pool and in the classroom, Aguilera was awarded ACC Honor Roll honors.Freshman: As a freshman, Aguilera contributed a number of strong performances in the sprint events. At the Louisville First Chance Invitational, he recorded top times of 20.74 in the 50 free, 44.79 in the 100 free, and 1:38.77 in the 200 free. He also competed at the TYR Pro Swim Series at Richmond, qualifying for finals in the 100 LCM free (51.71) and 200 free LCM (1:53.70). In the dual meet season, he scored points for the Cards in the 200 free in the wins over Virginia and Tennessee.
Prep: Aguilera hails from Cali, Colombia, where he attended Colombo Britanico and swam club for coaches Ibrahim Zaldivar and Luis Fernando Salazar. He has been a member of the Colombian National Team since 2017, securing two silver medals for Colombia at the 2017 Bolivarian Games in Santa Marta, Colombia. As a member of the Colombian Junior National Team, he was a seven-time gold medalist at the 2017 Copa Pacifico, a silver medalist at the 2017 Youth South American Games and was named a team captain in 2017. Aguilera holds best times of 24.19 in the 50-meter free, 51.71 in the 100-meter free, 1:55.40 in the 200-meter free and 57.8 in the 100-meter fly.
