Sophomore: In Rachael Lewis' sophomore year, she swam in her first BIG EAST Championships as an exhibition swimmer. Lewis would have scored points in the 50- and 100-freestyle where she swam a 23.18, and a 51.44. At the Purdue Invite, Lewis swam a 23.64 in the 50-freestyle and swam the third leg of the 200-freestyle relay that took second. During the Notre Dame dual meet, she took 4th place as the second fastest Cardinal in the field during the 50-freestyle where she swam a 24.04. The 400-freestyle relay at Notre Dame placed third with Lewis swimming the second leg in 53.01 the third fastest split. Lewis was also awarded to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
Freshman: Rachael joined the deep group of Cardinal sprinters in her freshman year... Rachael competed at the Ohio State Winter Invite where she turned in her best performances in the 50- and 100-free... She posted a 23.89 in the 50-free and a 52.26 in the 100-free... In dual meets she gained experience as a part of many relays, swimming the freestyle leg... Against UK she placed seventh in the 50-free and was apart of the fifth place 200-medley relay.
Prep: Rachael Lewis comes from Wilmington, Ohio, and the Springfield Aquatic Club. Rachael, a three-time high school state qualifier and finalist, was named the 2009 Fort Ancient Valley Conference Swimmer of the Year. She is also a four-time YMCA National qualifier. She was fifth at the Ohio State Championship in the 50-free. Lewis finished 15th at the YMCA Nationals in the 50-free and is a YMCA HM All-American. She holds nine school records and is an FAVC and sectional champion. Although Rachael is not new to the sport, she has only been swimming year round for one year. She has also been named FAVC All-Conference in soccer.
