Bio
Junior: Andrea Acquista qualified for NCAAs after a strong showing at NCAA Zone C qualification events at Purdue where she finished 5th in the 3 meter board (598.90), 11th on the 1-meter board (545.70) and second in the platform (529.10). At NCAAs, she finished 33rd in both the 1-meter (267.05) and the 3-meter (288.40). She was 24th in the platform with a score of 236.90. At ACCs, she finished 7th in the 1-meter (288.00) and 11th in the 3-meter (312.90). She won gold on the platform, with a score of 318.15. In the dual meet season, highlights included second place finishes on the 1-meter board versus Indiana (289.73) and Kentucky (273.53). She was third at the Louisville Diving Open in the platform (260.90) and won the platform at the UofL Invitational. She was named to the the All-ACC Academic team.
Sophomore: Andrea Acquista is the only diver returning for the women who scored in the ACC last year. At the ACC Championships, she finished 13th in 3-meter (285.70), 16th in 1-meter (260.00) and was 19th in platform (201.55). A solid performer in the dual season, she placed second versus rival Kentucky in the 3-meter. She won the 1-meter versus Cincinnati with a 298.73 and was the top UofL diver in both 1- and 3-meters in the meets against Auburn, Tennessee and North Carolina.
Freshman: In Andrea’s freshman year with the Cardinals, she made an immediate impact for the diving squad. She competed at the AAC Championships and finished third in the Women Platform Diving Finals with a score of 245.65. She also placed fourth on the 3-meter springboard with a score of 284.50 and took fifth on the 1-meter springboard with a score of 252.35. Her performance in the Championships allowed her to be selected to the All-Conference team. Acquista placed second on the 1-meter springboard against Indiana with a score of 273.15. She added two third place finishes against Tennessee with a score of 253.27 on the 1-meter springboard and 287.32 on the 3-meter springboard.
Prep: Andrea Acquista hails from Columbus, Ohio where she attended St. Francis DeSales High School. Acquista dove for the Ohio State Diving Club. She was crowned state champion her senior year in high school, placed third at the Junior East Nationals in 2011 and 2013, and qualified for the 2012 Olympic Trials.
Personal: Daughter of Rob and Angee Acquista. Born October 26, 1994. Major is nursing.
