2009: Hit .307 with seven home runs and 31 RBI as a sophmore. Played in 61 games, including 57 starts in the outfield. Had at least one hit in each of the Cards' four NCAA Regional games, including a 3-for-4 day with a home run and two runs scored in the win over Middle Tennessee to earn All-Regional honors. Earned All-Tournament honors after going 2-for-6 with two RBI and a run scored in Cards' title game win over UConn at the BIG EAST Tournament. Finished 2-for-4 with a run scored in first round win over Cincy. Returned to the starting lineup on May 10 after missing seven games with a hand injury sufferered on April 26 on a HBP against Notre Dame. Went 3-for-5 with two runs scored at St. John's in the return from the injury. Finished 1-for-4 with a run scored in win over Notre Dame on April 25. Was 2-for-5 with a run scored in Cards' April 21 win at IU. Singled and scored the game-winning run in the Cards' 4-3 win in 14 innings at Rutgers on April 19. Also had a hit and a run scored at RU on April 18. Had a hit and scored a run against UK on April 14. Was 2-for-5 with one RBI on April 11 in the second game of a doubleheader sweep against Pitt. Was hit by a pitch and eventually the scored the winning run in the Cards' 1-0 win over Pittsburgh on April 11. Finished 2-for-5 with two runs scored in April 9 win over Panthers. Went 3-for-5 with his fifth home run of the year, two RBI and three runs scored in win over IU on April 7. Had a huge series at Cincinnati with eight hits, three RBI and five runs scored in the return to his hometown. Was 3-for-5 with two runs on April 5 at UC. Finished 3-for-6 with three RBI and one run on April 4 against Bearcats. Went 2-for-4 with two runs at UC on April 3. Finished 2-for-7 with the game-winning RBI single in the Cards' 17-inning win over Seton Hall on March 28. Went 2-for-3 with a run scored against the Pirates on March 27. Was 1-for-3 with a run scored in the win over Evansville on March 24. Completed six straight plate appearances with a hit by hitting his fourth home run of the season against Georgetown on March 22. Was 2-for-4 with an RBI triple against WMU on March 4. Had an important diving catch in centerfield in the eighth inning of the Cards' 8-5 comeback win over Bowling Green on Feb. 28. Finished 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Feb. 27 win over Bowling Green. Was 3-for-4 with a mammoth first inning home run on Feb. 21 at Florida. Added another hit and a run scored in Sunday's series finale for a 4-for-12 weekend at UF.
2008: Hit .284 with 15 doubles, six home runs and 36 RBI, scoring 46 times in 59 games for the Cardinals. The prep infielder moved into the outfield where he started 35 games as a freshman. Was plunked 10 times on the season. Went 2-for-5 against Georgia on May 31 in the NCAA Regional. Named All-BIG EAST Tournament, going 7-for-18 with nine runs and four RBI during the four-game tournament. Drilled his sixth home run of the season, scoring four runs in BIG EAST semifinal win over Villanova on May 23. Doubled and scored twice in a 3-for-5 effort in win over Villanova in the second round of the BE Championship. Was 2-for-4 with a double and a stolen base against RU on May 17. Lined a solo home run to center, putting the Cards up for good in win over Ball State on May 13. Was 2-for-3 with two RBI at WVU on May 11. Belted a two-run shot in win at IU on May 6. Drove in a pair of runs with a pair of doubles in a 3-for-4 effort in win over WKU on May 30. Led off the ninth with a single and scored the game-winning run in dramatic win over UK on April 22. Homered in the first and drove in three runs in the series opening win over Villanova on April 18. Collected first career four-hit game, scoring three runs in win over Marshall on April 9. Belted a solo home run and was hit by a pitch in win at Pitt on March 30. His RBI single in the bottom of the 11th plated the game winner against Butler on March 26. Drilled the first pitch of the game out for his first career home run, and added a pair of doubles, driving in four and scoring four in win over EKU on March 25. Posted a 10-game hit streak, gathering a hit in each of the first 10 games he played in. Had a pinch-hit single in win over N.C. State on Feb. 29. Singled in two trips in his first start on Feb. 24. Had an RBI double and scored a run in his first collegiate at bat in win over CSU on Feb. 22.
High School: Played for the 2007 Connie Mack World Series champion Midland Redskins, going 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and five RBI in the championship game. The team posted a 54-6 record. Limited to just 15 games his senior season, still managing 12 extra base hits and 21 RBI. An All-Conference baseball and football selection for the Highlanders, Richmond hit .434 as a junior with 17 doubles, two triples and four home runs. He drove in 33, stole 11 bases and scored 55 runs, leading his team to a sectional championship. Batted .414 as a sophomore, scoring 40 runs. An All-City wide receiver selection.
Personal: Born 6/14/89 in Cincinnati to Heather and Jim Richmond. Is majoring in education. Derek Jeter is his favorite athlete along with LeBron James and Chad Johnson and he cheers for the Yankees and the Bengals. His favorite movie is 300 and he watches a lot of MTV and ESPN on TV. Frosted Mini-Wheats are his favorite cereal and he also likes to eat pizza and steak, while J & J's is his favorite restaurant. Listens to rap. Would like to play a round of golf with Jeter. His father played baseball at Eastern Kentucky.
