Cardinals Complete Weekend Sweep of Seton Hall
March 08, 2026 | Baseball
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville baseball team finished off a weekend sweep of Seton Hall with a 6-2 win on Sunday at Jim Patterson Stadium.
Louisville (10-5) has now swept consecutive weekend series and improved to 9-3 on the season on its home field.
Jake Bean (1-2) set the tone for the Cards on Sunday. The junior blanked the Pirates for six innings before exiting after allowing a leadoff walk in the seventh. He finished with just one run allowed on three hits with five strikeouts in his first victory with Louisville.
After explosive performances on Friday and Saturday, the Louisville offense was more methodical on Sunday.
Kade Elam plated the game's first run with an infield single in the second. Tague Davis then led off the third inning with his eighth homer of the season. Davis homered in all three games of the series.
Bayram Hot doubled Louisville's advantage in the fifth with a two-run homer to left and Jimmy Nugent punctuated the day with his first homer in a Louisville uniform in the seventh.
Seton Hall (4-7) scored its first run of the day in the seventh and threatened with the bases loaded and tying run at the plate with only one away. However, freshman right-hander Brandon Shannon got a strikeout and groundout to put an end to the frame.
All nine Louisville starters had at least one hit in the win. Elam, Nugent and Alex Alicea recorded two apiece.
The Cardinals now get set for a five-game week. Louisville will host Marshall on Tuesday and Wednesday before starting ACC play on Friday against Notre Dame.
