Early Offense Leads Cards to Second Straight Win
March 07, 2026 | Baseball
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville baseball team got early offense for the second straight day on the way to a 13-3 win over Seton Hall in eight innings on Saturday evening at Jim Patterson Stadium.
Louisville (9-5) scored in double figures for the second consecutive game and fourth time so far this season.
As they did on Friday, the Cardinals did the majority of their damage in the opening innings. Tague Davis cashed in an early scoring opportunity with a groundout that scored Lucas Moore in the bottom of the first.
Seton Hall (4-6) tied the game up with a two-out single in the second, but the game wouldn't stay tied long.
The second inning was a big one once again for the Cards, as it put a seven spot on the board for the second time in as many days.
Kade Elam gave the Cardinals the lead back with an infield single that plated Jax Hisle, and George Baker touched the plate on a wild pitch. Alex Alicea then doubled into the corner to drive home two before Davis hit a two-run opposite field home run. The long ball was the seventh of the season for the sophomore.
The Pirates added single runs in the third and fourth innings, but the Cardinals got both back plus a third in the fifth.
Louisville finished off the night with run-scoring knocks from George Baker and Elam in the eighth to trigger the mercy rule.
Wyatt Danilowicz (2-1) earned his second win of the season with three runs allowed over five innings. The southpaw struck out eight in the victory.
Casen Murphy struck out five of the seven batters he faced in two scoreless innings of relief, while Kian Vorster fanned a pair in his lone inning of work.
Alicea and Elam led the offense with three hits on the night, driving in two each. Hisle and Jimmy Nugent added two hits apiece.
Louisville and Seton Hall wrap up the weekend series on Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
