Veronika Exposito claims the individual title as the Cards win their second-straight tournament
ACWORTH, Ga. – The Louisville women's golf team picked up its second-straight tournament title as they finished in first following the final round of the Bentwater Women's Collegiate Tuesday afternoon at the Bentwater Golf Club. The Cardinals put together their best team-round of the week with an 8-over-par 296 to finish 34-over-par 898 for the tournament.
Veronika Exposito was the player to beat as she finished atop the individual leaderboard in a field of 74 players. She was 1-under-par 71 in the final round, her second round under-par of the tournament. She finished first overall with a 2-under-par 214 to claim her first individual title of her career.
Bailey Burkett collected her first career Top 5 finish when she placed fourth overall at the conclusion of the tournament. She was 3-over-par 75 in the final round and finished 10-over-par 226 for the tournament. It was her fifth finish inside the top 15 this season, tops of any player on the team.
Millie Cottrell made a big jump in the final round with her best round of the tournament. She carded a 2-over-par 74 with three birdies in the final round. She finished in a tie for 14th at 15-over-par 231 for the tournament, her second-straight Top 15 finish of the season.
Thienna Huynh was one stroke behind Cottrell on the leaderboard as she finished the tournament 16-over-par 232 and 18th overall. In the final round on Tuesday, Huynh was 4-over-par 76 and had two birdies on the round.
Rounding out the scoring for the Cardinals was Emree Cameron, who finished tied for 24th overall at 19-over-par 235. She was 6-over-par 78 in the final round on Tuesday. Madison Moman was competing as an individual but withdrew in the final round.
Up next for the Cardinals will be a one-day home event next week. Louisville will host the Cardinal Classic next Monday, March 30 at the UofL Golf Club out in Simpsonville. The Cardinals will be one of five teams competing in the one-day event.
