Cards Play Host to Canisius Wednesday to Open Homestand

Cards and Golden Griffins will meet Wednesday at 12 p.m.
The University of Louisville lacrosse team will open a three-game homestand on Wednesday when the Cardinals play host to Canisius to a 12 p.m. matchup airing on ACCNX.

OPENING DRAW
• Louisville enters the midweek matchup with a 1-3 overall record following a 24-3 loss at No. 1 North Carolina on Saturday.
• The Cardinals are led offensively by junior Reese Whiteman who has 11 points and 10 goals with a pair of hat tricks on the season. She has scored at least one goal in her last five games, dating back to April 17, 2025.
• Sophomore Ella Berg stands second on the team with nine points and eight goals.
• Sophomore Charlotte Jackson has six goals on the season. She has already matched her career single season high after registering six as a freshman last year.
• Sophomore Haley Richards leads the ACC with 48 saves, and 12 saves per game.
• Richards collected 16 stops in her first collegiate start, season-opener against OSU. The mark is tied for sixth on Louisville's all-time single-game list. She followed that performance with 10 saves at Virginia Tech. The Moraga, Calif. native proceeded to post another 16 save effort against the Golden Flashes to tie her personal best.
• Sophomore Olivia Scroggie leads the team with 31 draw controls in the early 2026 campaign. Last year, she collected 73 draw controls last season, standing tied for eighth on Louisville's single-season list. She currently has 104 in her career, becoming the ninth player in program history to reach the century mark.
• Junior Cate Kangas paces the team with 13 ground balls and seven caused turnovers.
• After losing eight seniors to graduation in 2025, Louisville fields a young roster with 11 freshmen and eight sophomores to go along with seven seniors and six juniors.
• Head coach Scott Teeter is in his ninth season at the helm. He sits at 194-205 in his 24th season as a head coach, with a 49-85 mark at UofL.

Scouting the Golden Griffins:
• Canisius brings a 4-0 record into Wednesday's game, most recently beating Akron 19-10. The Golden Griffins have outscored their opponents 72-36 so far this season.
• Ella Forcucci leads the way with 23 points this season. She's tallied a team leading 17 goals this season to go along with six assists.
• Megan Previdi has recorded a team high 10 assists this season.
• Canisius is led in goal by Olivia Licardi and her 3-0 record.
CARDINAL CONNECTIONS:
Louisville head coach Scott Teeter served as the Golden Griffins' head coach Prior to coming to Louisville, he served as head coach at Canisius for 15 years (2003-2017) and captured six Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament titles. He was named MAAC Coach of the Year in 2005, 2015, 2016 and 2017.
• In 2011, Canisius won a school-record 14 games and the program's first MAAC Tournament title and continued its championship run in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017. Canisius also claimed regular-season crowns in 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017.
• UofL associate head coach Allison Daley played for Teeter at Canisius and was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame in 2022. She still owns the program record for saves (662), stands second in save percentage (.472) and ranks among the top five in single season saves.
• The goaltender and team captain was the MAAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2010 and earned MAAC Tournament MVP honors after leading the Griffs to their first conference title in 2011. She was a three-time All-MAAC selection, a two-time all-tournament team member and became the program's first IWLCA all-region honoree.Â
•Daley received her bachelor's degree in psychology from Canisius in 2011 and went on to receive her master's degree in sport administration from the school in 2013.
• Following graduation, she served as an assistant coach under Teeter and was named head coach at Canisius prior to the 2018 season after Teeter left  for the head coaching position at Louisville. She served as head coach of the Golden Griffins for four seasons.
