January 13, 2026 | Baseball
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville student-athletes Tague Davis and Jake Schweitzer were ranked among the top 100 sophomores in the country by Perfect Game on Tuesday.
Davis was ranked No. 35 overall, while Schweitzer was at No. 99.
Davis earned Freshman All-America honors in his debut campaign with the Cardinals in 2025. The lefty-hitting first baseman finished his first season with a .283 average with nine doubles, 18 home runs and 52 RBIs.
The 18 home runs were tied for the most by any player in the ACC during the regular season and set the Louisville freshman record, surpassing Chris Dominguez' 15 in 2007.
Likewise, Schweitzer had a strong first season in a Louisville uniform. The Louisville native was one of the top bullpen options for the Cardinals, making 25 relief appearances.
Schweitzer posted a 4-3 overall record with three saves, leading the Cards with a 2.34 ERA in 42.1 innings of work. The right-hander struck out 23 and held opponents to a .200 average.
The pair will help lead the Cardinals into the 2026 season, which begins on Feb. 13 with the first of a three-game series against Michigan State at Jim Patterson Stadium.
