LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's soccer team will face its toughest test of the young season on Friday morning, welcoming No. 1 Stanford to Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium for the Cardinals' ACC opener. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. ET and will be broadcast on ACCNX.
Louisville enters the matchup with a perfect 3-0-0 record after opening the year with three consecutive shutout victories. The Cardinals have outscored opponents 11-0 across wins over Southern Indiana (6-0), UAB (1-0), and IU Indianapolis (4-0). The three-match shutout streak is Louisville's longest since 2023 and marks the program's first time opening a season with three consecutive clean sheets since 2009.
The visiting Cardinal arrive in Louisville ranked No. 1 in the United Soccer Coaches poll following a 4-0-0 start to their campaign. Stanford has earned victories over Denver, Sacramento State, Santa Clara, and UC Davis, scoring multiple goals in each contest. This weekend's match will be the first for both programs as ACC opponents, with Stanford officially joining the league last season.
Friday morning will mark just the third all-time meeting between Louisville and Stanford. Stanford holds a 2-0 advantage in the series, including a 2-0 win in the 2016 NCAA Tournament quarterfinals during a run to the national championship.
