Cardinals Host Virginia Tech

This begins a three-game homestand for the Cards
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville women's soccer team (7-2-0, 0-1-0 ACC) returns home to kick start another homestand this weekend. The Cardinals welcome Virginia Tech (4-3-2, 0-1-0 ACC) to Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium on Sunday, September 14 for Kids Day at Lynn. The Cards and Hokies will square off at 1 p.m. ET and it will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra.
The Cardinals have been dominant at home this season with a perfect 6-0 record at Lynn Stadium. The offense has been lethal at Lynn as they have outscored opponents 36-2 in home games. They are averaging 6.0 goals a game at home and the defense has also been strong at home as well. The Cardinals have clean sheets on five of the six home games this season.
Louisville continues to boast the top offense in the country as they head into ACC play. The Cardinals lead the nation in goals (37), assists (42), points (116) and goal differential (+31). They have already set the program record for team assists in a single season.
Sophomore Amelia Swinarski is leading the NCAA with nine assists and is tied for the NCAA lead with 21 points. She is currently fourth in program history for assists in a single season. Swinarski has tallied at least one point in all six home games this season and has multiple points in five of the six home games.
Sunday's matchup will be the 10th meeting all-time between the Cardinals and Hokies. Louisville holds a slight edge 4-3-2 in the all-time series between Virginia Tech. This will be the first trip for Virginia Tech to Louisville since the 2018 season and the Cards are 2-2 all-time in games against the Hokies that take place in Louisville.
