Louisville turned in a 12-1 victory in seven innings on Sunday.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The 14th-ranked University of Louisville baseball team completed a three-game sweep of Boston College with a 12-1 victory on Sunday at Jim Patterson Stadium.
Louisville (24-7, 8-4 ACC) has now won five straight games after finishing off a perfect 4-0 week.
The offense was rolling again on Sunday, getting started early and reaching double figures for the third time on the weekend.
Garret Pike had a sacrifice fly and Jake Munroe notched a run-scoring single in the first inning on Sunday to start the scoring. Tague Davis then launched the first of his two homer on the day to lead off the second and give the Cardinals a 3-0 lead.
Boston College (13-17, 5-10) got its lone run with two outs in the third, but Peter Michael handled them the rest of the way.
The right-hander surrendered just the one run over six innings of work, striking out four to improve his record to 4-1 on the season. Justin West took over in the seventh and struck out all three batters he faced.
Meanwhile, the offense stretched the lead out with three runs in the fourth, including a two-out two-run single from Zion Rose.
Following West's three strikeouts in the seventh, the Cardinals sealed the win with a six spot in the bottom half.
Pike, Munroe and Eddie King Jr. had consecutive run-scoring hits before Davis put the exclamation point on the day with a three-run homer inside the left field foul pole to activate the mercy rule.
Davis was 3-for-4 on the day, driving in four and scoring three times. The two home runs give him 12 on the season, extending his national lead for home runs by a freshman.
Louisville will now turn its attention to the Battle of the Bluegrass against Kentucky on Tuesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET at Jim Patterson Stadium.
