
Cards Split Doubleheader Against the Eagles

BRIGHTON, Mass. – The University of Louisville softball team split the Friday doubleheader against Boston College, taking the 3-1 loss in game one and coming back to grab a 5-2 win in game two.
Alyssa Zabala made her 100th career appearance in game one, recording seven strikeouts in six innings.
The Eagles got the scoring started after recording a single and a few walks to get on base. E. Jackson reached home on a wild pitch to give Boston College the early 1-0 lead.
The game did not see another run scored until the top of the fourth inning thanks to a leadoff triple from Char Lorenz and an RBI triple from Madison Pickens to score Lorenz. The Cards tied it up at 1-1 but could not score any more.
Boston College had a walk and a double to get on base in the bottom of the fifth inning. Hines knocked in an RBI fielder's choice followed by a sacrifice fly from Martinez, leaving the score at 3-1 in the Eagles favor.
Brooke Gray got the start and the win in game two, allowing just two runs and striking out six batters in seven innings.
The Eagles got on the board first with a one-run home run in the top of the first inning.
The fifth inning was dominant for the Cards offensively. Bri Despines got on base via walk and quickly stole second. Jac Hasty tallied an RBI single to score Despines and tie the game. Freshman Taylor Monroe sent a ball to left center, grabbing the third home run of her career and adding two more on the board for Louisville.
The series finale is scheduled for tomorrow, April 12 at 1 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on the ACCNX.
