Despines Named NFCA All-American, Lookadoo and Mack Earn Annual NFCA Honors

Despines was named an NFCA Third Team All-American, Lookadoo became the first Cardinal to earn Gold Glove honors, and Mack was named the Golden Shoe recipient
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Bri Despines of the University of Louisville softball team was named an NFCA Third Team All-American, the outlet announced Wednesday. Camryn Lookadoo earned DI Rawlings/NFCA Gold Glove honors and Chelsea Mack was named the 2026 DI New Balance/NFCA Golden Shoe Award recipient.
Despines, who earned the at-large catcher spot, is the 11th NFCA All-American in Louisville softball history.
The top nine defensive players from all collegiate divisions (NCAA DI, NCAA DII, NCAA DIII, NAIA, NJCAA DI, NJCAA DII, NJCAA DIII, Cal JC, NWAC) are recognized with the Rawlings Gold Glove Award, presented by the NFCA.
The top baserunners in the nation are recognized with the New Balance/NFCA Golden Shoe Award. These athletes are selected by NFCA divisional committees in NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Cal JC, NWAC and High School.
This marks the first time in program history that the Cardinals have had either Gold Glove or Golden Shoe honors.
Despines was one of the most complete hitters in the country this season, batting .402 with 66 hits and 70 RBIs. The catcher started all 58 games this year, ranking third in the ACC with a .552 on-base percentage, while also slugging .756. Despines recorded 19 multi-hit games and 17 multi-RBI games, including six games with four or more RBIs. Defensively, she threw out 12 runners stealing (T-1st ACC). In addition to her production at the plate, she is 21-for-23 on stolen base attempts. The senior ended the year on a 33-game reached base streak, the longest active stretch on the team, reaching base in all but one game this season (57 of 58 games).
Mack continued to set the tone at the top of the lineup this season, tying for third in the ACC and ninth nationally with 87 hits, while batting .449. Mack reached base in 55 games this season and owns a .500 on-base percentage while averaging 1.16 runs per game. She recorded a hit in 49 of 58 games and led the team with 27 multi-hit performances. On the basepaths, Mack ended the year second in the nation with 45 stolen bases and fourth in stolen bases per game (0.79).
Lookadoo was one of the most consistent hitters and fielders in the lineup this season, batting .382 with 60 hits and 58 RBIs. The infielder started all 58 games this year at first base, batting cleanup in 33 games. Defensively, she totaled 364 putouts and 12 assists with a .992 fielding percentage and 16 double plays turned, committing only three errors all year.
