
Cards Drop Game Two to NC State

RALEIGH, N.C. – The No. 24-ranked University of Louisville softball team fell 10-6 to NC State on Saturday night at Dail Stadium.
Louisville drops to 42-11 and 17-6 in conference play while NC State moves to 27-24 and 7-15 in the ACC. Madison Pickens led the offense, going 3-for-3 with two runs on the evening. Camryn Lookadoo and Taylor Monroe each added a two-run home run and two RBIs. Lookadoo and Monroe were joined by Bri Despines, Pickens, and Jordan Williams in scoring runs for the Cards.
The Wolfpack scored seven runs in the first two innings on eight hits to break the game open. Jayden Gohs came in to toss a scoreless third inning before UofL added its runs in the fourth. A leadoff walk to Despines put a runner on base for Lookadoo's home run, and Pickens followed with a single to get on for Monroe's homer and put Louisville on the board at 7-4.
Gohs continued to be dominant as she went three up, three down in the home half of the fourth. After a scoreless fifth, the Cards plated two more runs in Pickens and Williams on a wild pitch in the sixth inning. NCSU tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to put the score at 10-6.
The rubber match of the series and final regular season game for UofL will take place on Sunday, May 3, at 1 p.m. ET and will be streamed on ACCNX.
