Whiteman and McMahon register hat tricks, 10 different Cardinals score as Louisville produces a season-high 19 goals
CINCINNATI, Ohio – Maggie McMahon and Reese Whiteman each registered a hat trick to lead the University of Louisville lacrosse team to a 19-6 win over Xavier at Corcoran Field.
Â
In addition to her first career hat trick, McMahon also delivered a pair of assists for a career-high five points to pace the Cardinals offensively. In all, 10 different players scored for Louisville with seven tallying multiple goals. Izzy Seikel, Lauren Figas, Abigail Cole, and Abby Scully recorded two goals apiece with Charlotte Jackson, Negai Nakazawa and Cece Reilly added to the total as the Cardinals produced a season high in goals.
Â
"All in all, this was a fantastic team win," said UofL head coach Scott Teeter. "We had 10 different goal scorers, which is outstanding. We dominated the draw which gives you an increase in possession – I thought Olivia Scroggie and Erin Nicholson had a great day on the draw. It's good to see Cece Reilly score her first career goal. I thought defensively we played with some tenacity and put pressure on Xavier."
Â
The Cardinals (5-5) wasted little time getting on the scoreboard when Maggie McMahon connected on a free position shot just 1:21 into the game. Louisville added to its lead two minutes later with a goal by Charlotte Jackson. Reese Whiteman converted on a free position shot to notch her team-best 14th goal of the season, making the score 3-0.
