Sophomore Germany Davis earned the lone win for the Cardinals
DALLAS, Tex. – The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 4-1 Sunday afternoon at No. 57 SMU, snapping a four-match win streak for the Cards.
In doubles action, the duo of Allie Gretkowski and Lika Peresypkina fell 6-1 on Court 1 while Elena Noguero and Berta Miret were defeated 6-2 on Court 3 to give the Mustangs an early advantage in the match.
Turning the page to singles play, Gretkowski fell to Arianna Stavropoulos on Court 4, 6-0, 6-4. On Court 2 Peresypkina fell in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 to put SMU one point away from clinching the match.
Sophomore Germany Davis earned the lone victory for UofL, defeating Caroline McGinley 6-1, 7-5 on Court 5 to remain perfect in singles play with six wins on the season.
The Mustangs went on to win the match as Sophie Llewellyn got the best of Alice Otis on Court 1, 7-5, 6-3.
The Cardinals will return home to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center on Friday, February 28 to face 14th ranked NC State with first serve slated for 4 p.m. ET.
