Cards Fall 4-1 to No.15 NC State Friday Evening

Junior Alice Otis earned a Top 30 singles win to improve to 6-2 on the year
LOUISVILLE, KY. – The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 4-1 against No.15 NC State Friday evening at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The Cardinals are now 5-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play. Transfer junior Alice Otis earned a Top 30 singles win to improve to 6-2 at the No.1 spot on the season.
In doubles action, the Wolfpack's 2nd ranked duo of Maddy Zampardo and Gabriella Broadfoot got the best of the Cardinals' 82nd ranked pair of Alice Otis and Elisabeth Iila 6-3 on Court 1. NC State went on to secure the doubles point after the duo of Mia Slama and Anna Zryryanova defeated Germany Davis and Allie Gretkowski 6-2 on Court 2.
Turning the page to singles, Elena Noguero was downed in straight sets at the No. 2 spot 6-1, 6-3 to extend the lead for the Wolfpack. On Court 6 Berta Miret came up short against No. 73 Gabia Paskauskas 6-4, 6-4 to bring NC State within a point of clinching the match.
Otis earned a huge singles victory over 30th ranked Michael Lika 6-2,3-6,6-3 at the No.1 spot to give the Cards its lone point of the match.
UofL battled to the end, but the Wolfpack managed to clinch the match as Mia Slama defeated Germany Davis 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 on Court 5.
Louisville will return to action Sunday, March 2 to take on No. 29 Wake Forest at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center with first served slated at 12 p.m. ET.
