Cardinals Finish 11th at Moon Golf Invitational

Carmen Griffiths finished tied for 10th overall
MELBOURNE, Fla. — The Louisville women's golf team closed out their first tournament of the spring in 11th place after the final round of the Moon Golf Invitational Tuesday afternoon at Suntree Golf Course. The Cardinals finished the tournament at 25-over-par 889 for the three days down in the Sunshine State,
Senior Carmen Griffiths put together her best round of the tournament to finish things off on Tuesday. Griffiths fired a 1-under-par 71 with three birdies on the day to finished tied for 10th overall. It was her team-leading third Top-10 finish of the season as she finished the three rounds at even-par 216.
Freshman Bailey Burkett was another Louisville player that finished in the Top 20 for the tournament. Burkett finished tied for 19th overall at 3-over-par 219 after a 4-over-par 76 in the final round on Tuesday.
Fellow freshman Veronika Exposito competed as an individual this week and finished the tournament tied for 34th overall. She shot a 3-over-par 75 in the final round and was 6-over-par 222 over the 54 holes.
Thienna Huynh finished a few shots behind Exposito in a tie for 44th overall. Huynh carded a 2-over-par 74 in the final round to finish the tournament at 8-over-par 224. Gabbi Bentancourt also put together a 2-over-par 74 in the final round and finished 8-over-par 224 and tied for 44th overall with Huynh.
Beatriz Barrios tallied a tied for 77th overall finish after she concluded the tournament at 16-over-par 232. Millie Cottrell rounds out the squad with a tied for 83rd finish at 18-over-par 234. She was 6-over-par 78 in the final round.
Louisville will be back out on the course in a month when they head down to the Lone Star State. The Cardinals are set to compete at the Betsy Rawls Invitational, hosted by the University of Texas. The 54-hole tournament will be held from March 17-18 down in Austin, Texas.
