The Cardinals took a 12-3 loss against No. 13 Oklahoma State.
ARLINGTON, Texas – The University of Louisville baseball team took its first defeat of the 2025 season on Saturday, losing 12-3 against No. 13 Oklahoma State in the Shriners Children's College Classic at Globe Life Park.
Louisville (1-1) defeated No. 7 Texas in 10 innings on Friday before losing on Saturday. The Cardinals will wrap up their time in Arlington on Sunday with another top 15 opponent, taking on No. 12 Arizona at 11:30 a.m. ET.
Despite the final score, the Cardinals owned the early stages of Saturday's contest.
Parker Detmers rolled through the first two innings and the Louisville offense gave him a lead to work with in the third.
Tagger Tyson reached on an error to start the inning and advanced to second on an Alex Alicea walk. Zion Rose delivered the first run-scoring hit of the day with a single back through the middle and Alicea later came around to score on a wild pitch.
After a third zero from Detmers, Louisville put together a two-out rally for another run in the fourth. Tyson laced a two-out triple into the right-centerfield gap and Bayram Hot picked up his first hit and RBI in a Louisville uniform with a single to left.
Oklahoma State (1-1) finally got to Detmers in the fourth. A single, walk and hit by pitch loaded the bases with nobody out and a first pitch grand slam vaulted the Cowboys in front.
From there, the Oklahoma State offense took over. The Cowboys added a run in the fifth, four in the sixth, one in the seventh and two more in the eighth to finish their day with 12 consecutive runs.
Detmers (0-1) took the loss with the four runs allowed in three-plus innings. TJ Schlageter, Jake Gregor and Tague Davis each made the Louisville debuts on the mound in relief.
