Biven Named to NCBWA Stopper of the Year Preseason Watch List

The Louisville closer had a 4-2 record with five saves in 2024.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville right-handed pitcher Tucker Biven was named to the Stopper of the Year Preseason Watch List by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association on Wednesday.
Biven is one of 76 student-athletes on the initial watch list and is the first Louisville player to appear on the preseason watch list since Michael Kirian in 2021.
Former Louisville closers Nick Burdi and Lincoln Henzman won the Stopper of the Year award in 2014 and 2017, respectively.
Biven posted a 4-2 mark with five saves working as the closer in 2024. In 24 relief appearances, he turned in a 3.82 ERA, striking out 40 in 35.1 innings.
The right-hander closed out eight of Louisville's 16 wins in ACC play and recorded more than three outs in 13 of his stints on the mound.
Biven and the Cardinals open the 2025 campaign on Friday against No. 7 Texas as part of the Shriners Children's College Showdown at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
