Cards Battle to a Scoreless Draw Against Belmont
October 07, 2025 | Men's Soccer
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Louisville men's soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw against Belmont on Tuesday night at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium.
Louisville (5-4-2, 1-4-0 ACC) generated a flurry of second-half chances, outshooting Belmont (6-0-5, 1-0-1 MVC) by a margin of 11-4 and earning seven corner kicks to the Bruins' four. Sophomore midfielder Leon Kondic led the attack with three shots, including one on target, while Michael Lee added three attempts off the bench to help spark the offense.
The Cardinals dominated possession and tempo in the second half, particularly after Belmont defender Griffin Moore was sent off with a red card in the 65th minute for denying a goal-scoring opportunity. Louisville fired nine of its 11 total shots after the break, but Belmont goalkeeper Grant Calvert turned away all four shots on goal to preserve the clean sheet.
Louisville goalkeeper Alex Svetanoff recorded three saves in his sixth shutout of the season, anchoring a disciplined back line that limited Belmont to just four shots in the match.
The Cardinals will return to ACC play this weekend, traveling to face Virginia Tech on Saturday, Oct. 11. The game will kick off at 5 p.m. ET on ACCNX.
