Cardinals Begin Three-Match Road Swing at Virginia Tech

Louisville is seeking its first win since Sept. 9 at Ohio State
BLACKSBURG, Va. — The University of Louisville men's soccer team hits the road for the first of three straight away matches, traveling to Blacksburg, Va. to face Virginia Tech on Saturday, October 11. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. ET at Thompson Field and will be broadcast on ACCNX.
Louisville (5-4-2, 1-4-0 ACC) enters the weekend looking to regain momentum after a scoreless draw against Belmont on Tuesday. The Cardinals opened the season with five straight shutout victories, including a statement 1-0 win over No. 1 Stanford, but are now seeking their first win since Sept. 9 at Ohio State.
The Cardinals have been led offensively by redshirt sophomore Chase Vazquez, who paces the team with three goals and two assists. Freshman Nicholas Parham and sophomore Michael Lee each have six points, while Noah De Blasis anchors the back line and adds three assists. In goal, Alex Svetanoff has continued to be a steady presence, recording six shutouts and 32 saves with a .800 save percentage.
Defensively, Louisville has remained strong throughout the season, holding opponents to just eight goals through 11 matches. The Cardinals own statistical advantages in shots (155-114), shots on goal (61-40) and corner kicks (66-42).
Virginia Tech (4-2-4, 0-2-2 ACC) remains in search of its first conference victory of the season. The Hokies have battled to draws against Virginia (2-2) and Notre Dame (1-1) but fell to Stanford and Boston College. Senior forward Dagur Traustason leads the team with four goals, while Alex Perez has chipped in two goals and four assists.
