The Cardinals fall to 5-4-1 (1-4-0, ACC)
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -Â The University of Louisville men's soccer team fell to North Carolina, 1-0 at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium on Friday night. Louisville now stands at 5-4-1 on the year, and 1-4-0 in conference play.
UNC (5-1-4, 1-0-4 ACC) scored its lone goal in the 10th minute on a header from Gabriel Serra Bracken. The Tar Heels posted five shots on goal in the match and 12 shots total, with six shots coming from Luca Nikolai.
The Cards finished the night with seven shots and three shots on goal, with Chase Vazquez leading the way with three shots of his own and two on target. On his senior night, goalkeeper Alex Svetanoff added four saves to keep the Tar Heels quiet for the remainder of the match.Â
The North Carolina defense held UofL to just one shot in the first 45 minutes. Vazquez and Elijah Brijbasi added the Cards first shots on goal in the 64th minute, and Vazquez added the team's third and his second in the 87th minute. UNC goalkeeper Andrew Cordes finished the night with three saves.
UofL will be back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 7, welcoming Belmont to Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium at 6 p.m. ET. The match will be broadcast on ACCNX.
