No. 12/7 Cards Head to Knoxville to Take on No. 6/4 Vols and No. 20/20 Tigers

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No. 12/7 ranked University of Louisville men's and women's swim and dive teams are set to travel to Knoxville, Tenn., to compete against the No. 6/4 Tennessee Volunteers and the No. 20/20 Auburn Tigers this Thursday at 2:00 p.m. ET at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center. Diving will begin at 12:30 p.m. ET. The meet will be streamed on SEC Network+ and live results will be available on the Meet Mobile App.
This will mark the third competition of the season for the Cards as they started the year with a sweep of Xavier at the beginning of the month. More recently, the Cards swept the SMU Classic Oct. 10-11.
At the SMU Classic, the Louisville women scored 358 points, taking the edge over No. 21 LSU (278), No. 20 Auburn (248), Drury (201), and SMU (207). The Cardinal men scored 313 points, outperforming No. 20 Auburn (304), No. 14 LSU (240), Drury (223), and SMU (221). Kim Herkle and Jackson Millard were named Swimmers of the Meet, while Samm Helmboldt earned Diver of the Meet. Julia Dennis set a meet record in the 50 free with a time of 21.54, which ranks fourth NCAA D1. Dennis also set a pool record in the 100 free with a time of 47.52, ranking No. 7 in the country. Julie Mishler, Caroline Larsen, Kim Herkle, and Dennis also set a meet record in the 200-free relay (1:27.49) which ranks third, and a meet/pool record in the 200-medley relay (1:35.83) ranking sixth. On the men's side, Nikita Sheremet set a freshman record while tying the meet record in the 50 free with a time of 19.28. His efforts versus Xavier earned him the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week.

The No. 6/4 University of Tennessee men's and women's swim and dive team enter their second competition of the year after falling to No. 1/2 Texas in their season opener. In that dual meet, the women's team lost 135-51, while the men's team lost 120-65. For the men's squad, sprinter Gui Caribé holds the second best time in the 50 free (18.92) and sixth best time in the 100 free (41.93) for NCAA D1. Martin Espernberger ranks No. 6 nationally in the 200 fly with a time of 1:41.86. Pedro Sansone, Nikoli Blackman, Kamal Muhammad, and Caribé rank second in the 200 free relay (1:16.19). On the women's side, Camille Spink ranks second in the 50 free (21.43) and third in the 100 free (47.07). McKenzie Siroky's ranks third in the country in both the 50 breast (26.95), and 100 breast (57.78). Ella Jansen's time of 1:54.59 in the 200 fly ranks fifth in the nation, while her time of 4:04.96 in the 400 IM ranks third Julianna Bocska, Emily Armen, Jillian Crooks, and Spink hold the fourth best time in the 200 free relay (1:27.53).

The No. 20/20 Auburn University men's and women's swim and dive team head to their fourth competition of the year. The Tiger's season started earlier this month with a victory on the women's side against West Florida, 145.5-85.5. Both teams competed at the SMU Classic, with the men finishing second (304), and the women taking third (248). Their most recent performance came at THE Dual Meet Tournament, where they beat both Minnesota (358-351) and Florida State (503-286), but fell to Georgia (400-382). On the men's side, Uros Zivanovic ranks fourth in the country in the 50 breast with a time of 24.19. Danny Schmidt, Daniel Krichevsky, Warner Russ, and Maston Bellow form the fourth-ranked 800 free relay team with a time of 6:21.09. Ivan Tarasov, Sohib Khaled, Kalle Makinen, and Zivanovic rank No. 6 in the nation in the 200-medley relay (1:24.37). For the women's team, Lora Komoroczy's time of 23.92 in the 50 back ranks No. 6 in the country. Isabella Ekk, Julia Strojnowska, Maggie McGuire, and Taylor Bacher hold the fifth best time in the 800 free relay (7:12.20).
