Women Tennis Concludes Successful Weekend at Miami Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's tennis team caps off a successful opening weekend at Miami Invitational. The Cardinals won 15 singles matches over the course of the weekend to go along with six doubles matches.
UofL competed in a hidden dual format throughout the weekend against Xavier, Middle Tennessee, and Miami of Ohio. On Friday, Louisville split singles victories against Xavier, with each team winning three matches a piece. Following singles action, the Cardinals faced Middle Tennessee in doubles, taking two out of three matches versus the Blue Raiders.
On Saturday, the girls continued to roll as they swept Miami of Ohio in singles action followed by winning two out of three matches against Xavier in doubles.
Louisville wrapped up a dominate invitational on Sunday, sweeping Middle Tennessee in singles, followed by picking up two wins against the RedHawks in doubles action.
Junior transfer Alice Otis shined in her debut for the Cardinals, going undefeated in her three singles matches on the weekend. She opened the weekend on Friday winning her singles match 6-4, 6-4 against Abby Nugent of Xavier at the No. 1 spot. She followed up her strong showing on Saturday with a three-set victory over Miami of Ohio's Catherine Denysiewicz-Slowek 7-5, 3-6, 6-3. On Sunday she ended singles play with another win at the one-spot, defeating Middle Tennessee's Alessia Truden 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.
Lika Persypkina and Elena Noguero also went undefeated in singles play on the weekend, both winning three matches at the No. 2 and 3 spots, respectively.
Louisville continued their dominance in doubles as two doubles pairing went undefeated on the weekend. The newcomer pairing of Alice Otis and Elisabeth Iila secured two doubles victories at the No. 1 spot and one win at the No. 2 slot. The dynamic duo of Lika Persypkina and Berta Miret claimed two doubles victories at the No. 2 spot, defeating pairings from Xavier and Miami of Ohio 8-5, respectively.
