The University of Louisville softball team will wrap up the regular season with a three-game Atlantic Coast Conference series at Boston College this weekend. The teams will open the series on Friday at 4 p.m. with game two taking place Saturday at 12 p.m. and the finale slated for Sunday at 12 p.m. Friday and Sunday's matchups will be carried on ACCNX with Saturday's contest airing on the ACC Network.
CARDINAL QUICK HITS
• The Cards enter the weekend series with a 26-23 overall record and a 7-14 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference play and tied for ninth with Boston College and Syracuse in league standings.
• Louisville are coming off of an 11-5 loss to then-No. 22/21 Clemson on Sunday in their home finale. Prior to that, Louisville defeated the Tigers 6-3 on Saturday to even the series after Clemson took the opening game 6-5.
• Last weekend, Louisville honored senior class of 2024 in a pregame ceremony on Saturday. That class of eight student-athletes includes: Mia Forsythe, Riley Frizell, Paige Geraghty, Kiley Goff, Daisy Hess, Gabby Holloway, Vanessa Miller and Bailee Richardson.

• Riley Frizell paces the Cardinals with a .333 batting average, 13 home runs, 47 RBIs and a .660 slugging percentage.
• Daisy Hess leads the team with 31 runs, 31 walks and a .441 on-base percentage. She stands tied for ninth on Louisville's single season list for walks.
• Kiley Goff stands second on the team with 27 runs. She has been hit by a pitch 20 times in Louisville's 49 games and leads the nation in that category. Goff has also earned 28 walks and carries a .439 on-base percentage.
• Vanessa Miller leads the team with 12 stolen bases and stands second on the team with 10 homers and 34 RBIs - all are career highs for the senior right fielder.Â

• Holly Aprile is in her sixth season as UofL's head coach. During her time at Louisville, which includes the COVID-19-shortened 2020 season, the Cardinals have amassed 154 wins and earned a pair of NCAA regional appearances with the 2023 Knoxville Regional and the 2019 NCAA Evanston Regional finals. She was named the Leadership Playbook 2022-23 Collegiate Coach of the Year.
• Prior to her arrival at Louisville, Aprile, the 2018 ACC Coach of the Year spent 10 seasons (2009-18) as Pittsburgh's head coach and five years (2004-08) as an assistant. In 2018, she earned ACC Coach of the Year honors after leading the Panthers to the 2018 ACC Coastal Division title and a runner-up finish in the ACC tournament.

• Abby Dunning (12-13) has carried the bulk of the pitching duties with 154.2 innings in 29 appearances. She leads the Eagles' pitching staff with a 2.58 ERA and 79 strikeouts and is holding opponents to a .207 batting average.

In a game that featured four lead changes, the teams combined for 10 runs in the final three innings as the Tigers prevailed 6-5 after plating three runs in the seventh inning. Vanessa Miller drove in a pair of runs and Katie Thatcher went 2-for-3 to lead the Cards at the plate. Alyssa Zabala took the loss, going 6.2 innings and giving up six runs on nine hits with two strikeouts.

In Saturday's game, UofL overcame a two-run deficit, scoring five runs in the fifth and another in the sixth en route to the win. Daisy Hess went 2-for-4 with two runs and Chelsea Mack went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI to lead the Cardinals at the plate. Sam Booe claimed the win with four strikeouts, keeping Clemson to one run on four hits.

After the Tigers took an early lead, the Cardinals battled back, but a late-inning rally was not enough to overcome the deficit. Bailee Richardson led the way for the Cardinals at the plate going 2-for-4 with a double and scoring a run. Zabala took the loss, going 2.2 innings and giving up five runs, three earned, on five hits with three strikeouts.
