Louisville Finishes Off Sweep of No. 19 NC State

The Cardinals won 7-6 on Sunday for their third straight win.
Louisville (20-11, 6-6 ACC) completed the weekend sweep with its third consecutive win.
After two days of grabbing early leads, the Cardinals fell behind quickly on Sunday. NC State (18-11, 8-7) jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a solo home run on the first pitch of the contest.
However, Louisville responded by scoring the next seven runs to take a commanding lead.
Ryan McCoy singled home Luke Napleton in the second to tie the game and Logan Beard put the Cards in front with a two-run shot to left. The home run was the seventh of the season for the senior and the fourth in his last six games.
Eddie King Jr. made it a 4-1 game with a run-scoring single in the third before Zion Rose struck for a two-run single in the fourth. Rose then showed off his speed, scoring from second on a wild pitch and throw down to first.
From there, NC State's offense got the Wolfpack back into the game. NC State got a two-run homer in the fifth, a RBI groundout in the sixth and two more runs in the seventh to get back within one.
The Wolfpack got a pair of runners on in the eighth, but Tucker Biven entered the game and picked up a strikeout to end the threat.
Biven then set NC State down in order in the ninth to secure his third save of the season.
Carson Liggett received a no-decision after allowing three runs (two earned) in 4.1 innings. Riley Phillips (2-2) was first out of the bullpen, allowing a run over 1.1 innings.
McCoy was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate on Sunday, scoring a pair of runs. Rose added three hits of his own as eight of nine Louisville starters picked up a hit.
Louisville heads on the road for a midweek contest at Western Kentucky on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. ET in Bowling Green.
