Louisville Falls 14-11 to No. 25 Duke in Final Regular Season Road Game

Kokoro Nakazawa now has 12 hat tricks this season and 16 in her career.
DURHAM, N.C. – Kokoro Nakazawa tallied five goals this afternoon but the Louisville women's lacrosse team fell just short to No. 25 Duke, 14-11.
The Cardinals move to 7-9 (2-6 ACC) and the Blue Devils advance to 10-6 (4-4 ACC) on the season.
Louisville was off to a quick start this afternoon with three straight goals to open up the first quarter. Kokoro Nakazawa tallied back-to-back goals in less than four minutes and Nicole Perroni followed up with a free position goal to give the Cards an early 3-0 lead. Duke responded with two goals of their own and Maggie McMahon closed out the first quarter with a goal assisted by Rian Adkins.
Duke tied things up early in the second quarter but the scoring went back-and-forth for the remainder of the half. The Cards were up 7-6 going into the locker room.
The Blue Devils dominated the third quarter, scoring three straight goals before McMahon tallied her second of the afternoon. Duke outscored Louisville 4-1 in the third frame.
Perroni opened up the final period with a free position goal, followed by Kokoro's fourth goal of the game to tie things up at 10 apiece. However, Duke controlled the remaining eight minutes of the game and was able to come away with it.
Sara Addeche made 11 saves this afternoon, her seventh game of the season with double digit saves. She is 17 saves away from tying the all-time program record of 348 career saves.
Perroni ended with two goals, three ground balls, two caused turnovers, and four draw controls today. McMahon had two goals and a caused turnover of her own.
Duke's Maddie McCorkle led the team in scoring with five goals coming off the bench. The nation's leading point-scorer, Katie DeSimone, ended with one goal and one assist.
The Cards will close out their regular season next week as they play host to Notre Dame on Thursday, April 18. The opening draw is scheduled for 12 p.m. (noon) ET and can be watched on the ACCNX.
