Cards Travel to Liberty for Thursday Matinee

This marks the first meeting between the Liberty Flames and the Louisville Cardinals.
LYNCHBURG, Va. – The University of Louisville women's lacrosse team (4-5, 2-2 ACC) embarks on a two-game road trip this week with their first stop at Liberty (3-5, 0-0 ASUN) on Thursday, March 21. The opening draw will take place at 12 p.m. ET.

This is the first matchup between Liberty and Louisville.
ABOUT THE CARDINALS
Recently, the Cardinals grabbed a huge win at home over the ranked Clemson Tigers, 13-12. The Cards went on a 7-1 run in the second half to overcome a five-goal deficit. Nicole Perroni led the team with three goals, three caused turnovers, and six draw controls.
Louisville is 2-3 against non-conference opponents this season with an 18-13 road win at Cincinnati on March 6 and a 14-9 home win over Marquette on Feb. 16. This week's game marks the sixth of eight non-conference games on the 2024 schedule, with matchups against Xavier and Ohio State on deck.

The Lady Flames lacrosse team dropped a tough 12-5 game at Arizona State on Wednesday, March 14. Liberty jumped out to an early 2-1 lead but was downed by nine consecutive Sun Devil scores. The Lady Flames showed their fight in the second half, outscoring Arizona State 3-2 to finish out the game.
Liberty leads the country in caused turnovers per game with 14.38. The Flames have three players with an average of at least 2.00 caused turnovers per game with Mackenzie Lehman leading at 2.29 per game. They are sixth nationally in ground balls per game with 21.88, with Lehman averaging 2.57. Liberty is 1-3 against ACC opponents this season with their lone win over Pitt, 20-17. After facing Louisville, the Flames have one more ACC foe on their 2024 schedule when they host Notre Dame on April 11.

Kokoro Nakazawa, a senior from Yokohama, Japan, has tallied 30 goals, 12 assists, and 42 points in the first eight games of 2024. She leads the team in all three categories. She is ninth in the ACC in assists (12), first in free position goals per game (1.44), fourth in goals (30), and sixth in points (43). Her 43 points and 30 goals ranks 20th nationally and her free position goals per game ranks fifth nationally.
Nicole Perroni has tallied 25 goals and five assists on 59 shots this season. She is second in the conference (seventh nationally) in caused turnovers per game with 2.44, second in the ACC (seventh nationally) in free position goals per game with 1.33, and fourth in the ACC in draw controls per game with 6.00. Perroni scored three goals in the win over No. 20 Clemson, marking her 24th career hat-trick. She tallied three goals in the loss over No. 3 Boston College and had four goals each in the win at Pitt, against Virginia Tech, in the win over Marquette and against Colorado.
