Cards Conclude Homestand with Start of ACC Action

Louisville hosts #17 Florida State to open ACC play on Friday
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – UofL men's tennis finishes off a nine-match homestand and opens up ACC play this weekend with three matches in two days at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
The Cardinals will first face off against #17 Florida State in their league opener on Friday night at 5 p.m. ET. Louisville will then host a doubleheader on Sunday with a match against Miami at noon followed by a regional rival match against Eastern Kentucky at 5 p.m.
Since joining the ACC, the Cards are 4-5 in league openers, including a 2-1 mark under head coach Rodrigo da Silva. Louisville moved up two spots in the most recent ITA team rankings and is currently sitting at #27.
Sophomore captain Will Mayew was named ACC Player of the Week on Tuesday after a 3-0 weekend. His singles record now stands at 9-1, leading the way for Louisville. Underclassmen Miguel Avendaño and Andre' Steinbach have seven victories on the doubles court this season, the most by any Cardinal tandem.

Scouting the Seminoles: The #17 Seminoles have won six matches in a row, including a 7-0 sweep at Boston College to open league action. Florida State is home to the #13 singles player in the country, Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc. He teams up with Joshua Dous Kapenschif to be the #14 doubles tandem.

Scouting the Hurricanes: No. 61 Miami opened up ACC play on Wednesday with a 6-1 victory at Boston College. The Hurricanes will visit Notre Dame on Friday prior to the matchup against the Cardinals. Miami has no singles players ranked by ITA, but does have Adrien Burdet and Vladislav Melnic as the #27 doubles duo in the country.
