No. 14/9 Men's and Women's Swimming Completes Prelims at Louisville First Chance

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville men's and women's swimming and diving team complete the prelims of the Louisville First Chance Meet Friday morning at the Ralph Wright Natatorium.

The meet is designed to provide swimmers with a chance to improve their qualifying times or make a cut for postseason. This morning, the Cards were joined by Illinois and Kentucky.

In the 400 IM, Paige Kuwata put up the fastest time with a 4:16.46 ahead of UK's Paige Housman's 4:26.32. On the men's side, Ryan Hogan won with a 4:01.35 for the Cardinals.

In the 200 freestyle, Louisville's Zoe Vogelmann boarded a 1:51.37 for the win. For the men, UofL's Kayden Lancaster turned in a time of 1:37.66 just ahead of John Bossler's 1:40.53 for second.

Illinois swimmer Sydney Stoll took the 100 butterfly with a time of 54.27, beating Kentucky's Lily DeLong, who went 56.91. Louisville's Owen Taylor swam a 47.50 to win the men's race, beating Brady McInerney's 50.25.

In the 200 breaststroke, Adry Kasemets won with a time of 2:17.87, beating Illinois' Gwen Bakker (2:31.80) and fellow Illini Kylee Sessions' 2:31.85. For the men, Jordan Kelly won with a 1:59.48.

In the 100 backstroke, Drew Collins swam a 47.79 to beat Cardinal teammate Ryan Hogan's 50.86.

In the 50 free, the Cards took the top two spots led by Bianca Costea's 22.83 and Abby Karl's 23.49. UK's Paige Housman was third in 24.20 ahead of UofL's Krista Wheeler's 24.33 and UK's Lily DeLong's 24.42. Â In the men's race, Caleb Duncan won the men's race with a time of 19.63. Owen Taylor was second 20.42 and Rob Ehrenborg was third with a 20.79 just ahead of UK's Brady McInerney's 21.50.
