No. 4 Cardinals Set to Host Clemson and No. 19 Georgia Tech

Cards play Clemson at 6 p.m. on Friday and Georgia Tech at 1:30 on Sunday in L&N Arena
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The No. 4-ranked University of Louisville Cardinals are slated to play two more Atlantic Coast Conference opponents this weekend at L&N Federal Credit Union Arena. Louisville will welcome the Clemson Tigers on Friday at 6 p.m. before facing the No. 19-ranked Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The Cards are coming off a 2-0 weekend following sweeps of new ACC foes, California and No. 3 Stanford.

Outside hitters Anna DeBeer and Sofia Maldonado Diaz led the way for Louisville against Cal, both racking up eight kills, with DeBeer hitting .238 and Maldonado Diaz hitting .353. Outside hitter Charitie Luper recorded a season-high 18 kills in the match against Stanford, with 11 kills coming in the second set. Through both matches, libero Elena Scott tallied 39 digs.

Louisville is 12-0 all-time against the Tigers. In the 2023 season, the Cards beat Clemson 3-1 in South Carolina.

The Yellow Jackets and the Cards faced off twice in 2023, with each team taking a win. Louisville first lost to Georgia Tech 3-1 in Atlanta in early November, but bounced back to beat the Yellow Jackets 3-1 in Louisville later in the month to finish off the regular season. For both matches, the teams were ranked in the top-15 at the time.

In October of 2021, the Cards set a UofL record against the Yellow Jackets for most points in a single set when they won the second set 36-34. Louisville leads the all-time matchup 16-5 and is 12-0 at home.Â
