LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The fourth-ranked University of Louisville volleyball team downed Clemson 25-13, 25-22, 25-17 Friday night at L&N Federal Credit Union Area. The Cardinals move to 11-2 on the season and 3-0 in ACC play.

UofL hit .163 for the match and recorded 37 kills to go along with 35 assists and eight aces. Anna DeBeer led the way for the Cards with 12 kills with Charitie Luper adding 11 of her own. Cara Cresse recorded six of Louisville's 24 blocks as a team. Elle Glock and Nayelis Cabello recorded 16 and 15 assists, respectively. Libero Elena Scott contributed 17 digs to the match.

The Tigers hit just .047 on the match, with 24 kills to go along with six aces, falling to 8-6 overall and 0-3 in ACC play. Mia McGrath led the way for Clemson, contributing seven kills on the match. Katherine Sandt recorded 10 of the Tigers 23 assists on the night.

UofL will return to action on Sunday as they host No.19 Georgia Tech at 1:30 p.m. ET at L&N Arena.

Set 1: 25-13 Louisville
To open the match, Louisville quickly fell in a two-point hole but recovered nicely, going on a 5-0 run to force Clemson into a timeout. Coming out of the timeout, the Cardinals managed to stretch their lead to six due to three consecutive attack errors committed by the Tigers. Louisville continued to extend their lead off the swings of Phekran Kong and Charitie Luper, forcing Clemson to burn their second timeout of the set with the score 17-9. UofL closed the set on a 5-0 run to win the set 25-13, capped off by an ace by Luper. UofL hit .280 for the set, holding the Tigers to just .000 on the set. Luper led the way with five kills, while Scott added in two aces.

Set 2: 25-22 Louisville
The Tigers battled to begin the set, taking an early 6-3 lead off the heels of three Louisville attacking errors. Both teams continued to battle midway through the set with Clemson holding onto a two-point lead. The Cardinals managed to tie the set at 16 on a service ace by Kamden Schrand, forcing the Tigers to call their first timeout of the set. Following the timeout, UofL achieved their first lead of the set off a block by Cara Cresse and Anna DeBeer to bring the score to 18-17. With the score at 23-22, DeBeer delivered a timely kill to give the Cardinals match point and force Clemson to burn another timeout. Louisville secured the set with a score of 25-22 to take a 2-0 lead in the match. The set saw 10 ties to go along with three lead changes. The Cardinals outhit the Tigers despite only hitting at a .098 clip in the set. Luckily, Louisville held Clemson to just .070. Luper and Sofia Maldonado-Diaz led the Cards with four kills apiece.

UofL continued their momentum to open the set, going on a 4-0 run to give the Cardinals an early 4-1 lead. With the Cards on the brink of another run and DeBeer recording her second kill of the set, Clemson burned a timeout with the score at 10-6. DeBeer continued to dominate the set, recording her third kill of the set, followed by an ace to give Louisville a 14-8 advantage. The Tigers took their second timeout of the set following a thunderous block by Hannah Sherman and DeBeer to stretch the Cardinal lead to 18-12. Following the timeout, Clemson went on a 3-0 led by Mia McGrath with three kills to force UofL into calling their first timeout of the match. Louisville closed the set on a 3-0 run, capped off by an ace from DeBeer to give the Cards a 25-17 set win. UofL improved their hit percentage to .179 for the final set, holding Clemson to just .074. DeBeer led the Cards with six kills to go along with two aces.
