LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The fourth-ranked University of Louisville volleyball team secured their fourth straight sweep, defeating ACC foe No.19 Georgia Tech 25-20, 25-16, 27-25 Sunday afternoon at L&N Federal Credit Union Arena. UofL moves to 12-2 on the season and 4-0 in ACC play.Â

The Cardinals hit at a .280 clip on the match to go along with 44 kills, 42 assists, and four aces. Charitie Luper and Anna DeBeer led the Cards for the second consecutive match with 15 and 12 kills, respectively. Hannah Sherman was a force defensively, contributing eight of Louisville's 13 total blocks. Nayelis Cabello recorded 22 assists while libero Elena Scott pitched in 14 digs in the match.Â
Georgia Tech hit a chilly .064 with three aces and five blocks. The Yellow Jackets were led by Bianca Bertolina and Larissa Mendes, who both had seven kills with Mendes tallying a team-high three blocks.

UofL will hit the road for their first ACC road trip of the season, heading down south to face Florida State and Miami. Louisville will take on the Seminoles Friday, October 11 with first serve slated for 7 p.m. ETÂ

Set 1: 25-20 Louisville
The set started with Georgia Tech claiming the first point, but Louisville bounced back quickly on a kill from Charitie Luper to get the Cards on the board. Hannah Sherman knocked down a kill to make the score 2-2 and Louisville got their first lead of the match on another kill from Luper to go up 3-2. Scoring remained tight as the next four points for the Cards came on kills from Anna DeBeer and Sofia Maldonado Diaz, with Louisville retaking the lead 7-6. After back and forth points, Reese Robins got her first kill of the game to even the score at 9, with the Cards taking the lead back at 11-10 after a kill from Luper. Maldonado Diaz and Sherman connected for a block and Luper knocked down another kill to start a 3-0 scoring run for Louisville; the run continued to 4-0 on a solo block from Luper, bringing the score to 14-10. The run ended on a kill from the Yellow Jackets, but the Cards bounced back quickly, going on a 5-0 scoring run highlighted by two kills from DeBeer and a solo block from Sherman making it 19-11. The run ended on a service error by the Cards, but a kill from DeBeer and a block from Cara Cresse pulled Louisville to a 21-13 set lead. Georgia Tech went on a 3-0 scoring run that was quickly ended on a kill from Cresse with the Cards still in the lead 22-16. Another 3-0 run from Tech brought them back within reach at 22-19, but was ended on Georgia Tech's own attack error. Set point came for Louisville at 24-20 on a kill from Luper and the set was won 25-20 on Luper's sixth kill.Â

Set 2: 25-16 Louisville
UofL continued their momentum to start the second set, jumping out to a 6-1 lead fueled by consecutive blocks by Sherman and Robins to force Georgia Tech into their first timeout of the set. The Yellow Jackets earned their second point of the match off a service error but the Cardinals found their stride once more as they went on a 5-1 run to bring the score to 11-4 midway through the set. Georgia Tech burned their second timeout of the set after a kill by Cresse gave Louisville a 14-5 advantage. The Cards continued to roll throughout the set, going on another 3-0 run led by a kill from Sherman followed by a solo stuff by Payton Peterson to bring the score to 20-9. The Yellow Jackets continued to fight however, going on a 3-0 run of their own capped off by a block from Liv Mogridge and Larissa Mendes to bring the score to 22-15. Robins stifled Georgia Tech's momentum, delivering a key block to give UofL a 24-16 lead. Louisville secured the set 25-16 to take a 2-0 lead in the match. The Cardinals hit at a .286 clip for the set while holding the Yellow Jackets to just .000 on the set.Â

Set 3: 25-27 LouisvilleÂ
Georgia Tech got the scoring started in the third set, going up 2-0 on an ace and kill, securing their first lead since the first set. The Cards scored quickly however, on a Yellow Jackets attack error and an ace from Elena Scott that tied the score at 2. Georgia Tech went on a 4-0 scoring run to go up 6-2 and force a Louisville timeout. Following the timeout, a kill from Luper ended the Yellow Jackets run and started a 3-0 run for the Cards, highlighted by an ace from Nayelis Cabello and another block from the duo of Maldonado Diaz and Sherman, bringing Louisville back within reach at a score of 6-5. The run ended on a kill from Georgia Tech, but another kill from Maldonado Diaz kept Louisville in the fight. The Yellow Jackets went on a 3-0 run to go up 10-6 but it was quickly halted by a kill from DeBeer. Back and forth points kept the Cards in the mix with points coming from a block and a kill from Cresse, an ace from Maldonado Diaz, a kill from Luper, and two kills from DeBeer to bring the score to 17-14 in favor of the Jackets. Georgia Tech went on another 3-0 run to go up 20-14, but DeBeer's 10th kill put a stop to it. Louisville went on a 6-0 scoring run to start the comeback, with kills from Robins and Luper, attack errors from the Jackets, a Luper/Sherman block connection, and another solo block from Sherman to give the lead back to the Cards, 23-22. Louisville got the first match point on a Georgia Tech service error, but the Yellow Jackets knotted the scoring up at 24. Luper knocked down another kill to give the Cards the second match point, but Georgia Tech again had an answer. DeBeer's 11th and 12th kills of the match won the set and the match for Louisville, finishing 27-25.
