Women’s Soccer Begins Road Trip at No. 3 North Carolina

Both road games this week will be against Top-3 teams
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville women's soccer team is hitting the road this week and will be going up against two of the best teams in the country. To begin the road trip, the Cardinals are heading to Chapel Hill to face No. 3 North Carolina. The Cardinals and Tar Heels are set to square off at 7 p.m. ET and it will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
Louisville is coming off a 1-0 home win over NC State this past Sunday. It was their first home game in three weeks and the Cards improved to 5-1-1 at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium this season. It was their fourth clean sheet of the season and they have all come at home this year.
Mackenzie Geigle scored her fifth goal of the season in the second half as the game's lone goal. She is the second Louisville player to reach the five goal mark this season as Karsyn Cherry leads the team with six goals this year. Betsy Huckaby provided the assist off the corner kick for her first career assist. It was the Cards 19th assist this season, surpassing the full season total from the 2023 campaign.
This will just be the seventh meeting all-time between the Tar Heels and the Cardinals with the Cards trailing the series 1-4-1. This is the third meeting between the two teams in Chapel Hill and the Cards are 0-1-1 against the Tar Heels on the road. This is the first meeting in Chapel Hill since the 2018 season.
Following the Cards matchup with the Tar Heels, they will remain in the Triangle to take on No. 2 Duke to close out the weekend. The Cards and Blue Devils will square off on October 6 at 1 p.m. ET to close out the road trip for the Cards.
