
Volleyball Releases Complete 2023 Schedule

Cardinals will be back in action starting with the Red/Black Scrimmage
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville volleyball team has unveiled their complete schedule for the fall of 2023 which includes three matches at the KFC Yum! Center.

After a Red & Black Scrimmage on Aug. 19, the Cardinals will host the Cardinal Classic featuring Wright State, Troy and Washington State on Aug. 25-27.

The Cardinals make their first road trip of the year to Missouri where they will face Northern Kentucky, South Dakota and host Mizzou on Sept. 1-3. On Sept. 5, Louisville will make a quick stop in Dayton to take on the Flyers.

The next homestand features some of the best names in college volleyball as Penn State (Sept. 10), Kentucky (Sept. 13) and Stanford (Sept. 17) visit the Derby City. The UK and Stanford matches will be contested at the KFC Yum! Center with Penn State being played at L&N Arena.

UofL's home Atlantic Coast Conference slate begins with Syracuse on Sept. 22 followed by Boston College Sept. 24. Louisville then heads north to play long-time rival Notre Dame on Sept. 27 and at NC State on Oct. 1. The Cards stay on the road and pick up matches at North Carolina (Oct. 6) and at Duke (Oct. 8)

Rival Pittsburgh visits the Ville on Oct. 13 and is slated to be the third match to be held at the KFC Yum! Center. The Cards and Panthers last met at last year's volleyball Final Four in Omaha. Louisville will host Virginia Oct. 15 back at L&N that weekend. Â

A road trip is in store for Louisville that next weekend as they face Wake Forest (Oct. 20) and Virginia Tech (Oct. 22).

The Cardinals will then host Florida State (Oct. 27) and Miami (Oct. 29). Louisville will start the month of November at Georgia Tech (Nov. 3) and Clemson (Nov. 5) before returning to L&N on Nov. 10th and 12th to play Duke and North Carolina.

The Cardinals wrap up the regular season with two spicy opponents as they face Pitt in Pittsburgh on Nov. 18 and end its regular season by hosting rival Georgia Tech on Nov. 22.

About the Cards:
The No. 2 overall seed and the No. 2-ranked University of Louisville volleyball team (31-3, 17-1) advanced to its second-straight Final Four appearance. After beating ACC rival Pittsburgh in the Semi-finals, the Cardinals advanced to their first-ever NCAA Championships match before falling to top-seeded Texas.
The Cardinals earned their spot in the Final Four after sweeping No. 4 Baylor in the Sweet 16, before defeating No. 3 Oregon in a five-set thriller in the Elite Eight.  The Cards dispatched Samford and Purdue in the first and second rounds at L&N Federal Credit Union Arena without dropping a set. UofL earned the ACC's automatic qualifier with a 17-1 record in the league with Dani Busboom Kelly being voted ACC Coach of the Year. Claire Chaussee was voted ACC Player of the Year. Raquel Lazaro was voted ACC Setter of the Year and libero Elena Scott winning ACC Defensive Player of the Year.

The Cards placed four players on the AVCA All-American Team with Claire Chaussee being named an AVCA First Team All-American. Chaussee was joined by All-American teammates Elena Scott, who earned Second Team honors, Amaya Tillman, who earned Third Team honors, and Raquel Lazaro, who earned Honorable Mention honors.Â
