
Cardinals Travel to RV Virginia Tech

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville lacrosse program continues Atlantic Coast Conference play as they travel to Virginia Tech on Saturday at noon ET.
The Cardinals fell to 4-8 and 1-5 in the ACC after dropping a 19-8 decision to No. 22 Clemson on Saturday afternoon at the Historic Riggs Field behind a pair of goals by Negai Nakazawa.
Six other Cardinals scored a goal as UofL battled its seventh ranked opponent of the season. Allegra Catalano was the first person on the board scoring on a pass from Nicole Perroni. Rian Adkins knocked in her second goal of her career on a free position shot. Hannah Morris scored on a pass from Kylea Dobson, and Nicole Perroni netted a free position goal to extend her goal-scoring streak to 32. Tiffany Natoli earned a goal in the second half, while Alexa Steffens scored the final goal for the Cardinals.
Perroni added in two assists, six draw controls, and one caused turnover. Nakazawa also recorded a ground ball, a draw control, and a caused turnover. Maggie Foster led the defense with two ground balls. Sara Addeche earned 44:16 minutes guarding the net with two saves.
About the Hokies
Virginia Tech (6-6, 2-4 ACC) defeated No. 20 Duke 14-13 in triple overtime on Saturday. Ella Rishko and Blair Guy led the Hokies with three goals, but the excitement came from two goals by Maura O'Malley. O'Malley tied the game on a free-position attempt with two seconds remaining in regulation before scoring the golden goal in the third overtime. Olivia Vergano and Hannah Mardiney also scored two goals apiece, while Paige Tyson and Claire Schotta each had a goal of their own. Jocelyn Torres spent all 72:00 minutes protecting the net to record eight saves.
Series History – The Cardinals currently lead the series 7-3 and have won the last two straight. In 2022, the Cardinals won 14-11 in Louisville.
