Cardinals Take on Duke in First Round of ACC Championship

UofL hosts the Blue Devils on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville lacrosse team hosts Duke for the First Round of the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET at the UofL Lacrosse Stadium.
The winner advances to the ACC Championship Quarterfinals on Wednesday at 11 a.m. against No. 1-seeded Boston College.
The Cardinals are 5-11 overall and 2-7 in conference play after falling 15-9 to Notre Dame on Thursday in the final game of the regular season behind another stellar performance in goal from Sara Addeche.
Addeche tied the program record for single-game saves for the second-straight game. The goalie recorded 17 saves with a .531 save percentage. The junior recorded four ground balls and one caused turnover.
Maggie Foster led the defense with four ground balls and two caused turnovers, while Sydney Kirchenheiter tied her season-high of three ground balls.
Hannah Morris and Kokoro Nakazawa led the Cardinals with four points each, with both earning a hat trick. Morris recorded one ground ball.
Rian Adkins and Alexa Steffens each scored a goal, while Tiffany Natoli recorded an assist.
The Cardinals are looking for their first win in the ACC Tournament. UofL is 0-7 all-time in the ACC Tournament and this will be the second time facing the Blue Devils in the postseason. The Cardinals faced Duke in their first ACC Tournament in 2015, falling 14-7.

Duke (7-9, 1-8 ACC) dropped a hard-fought 13-12 decision to No. 6 North Carolina on Thursday. The Blue Devils were led by graduate student Maddie Jenner with a career-high five points. Caroline DeBellis added three points on two goals and one assist. Freshman goalie Madison Drebing protected the net, earning the second start of her career. She made five saves through 53:20 minutes of play.
Series History – Duke leads the series 8-2, but the Cardinals won the most recent matchup downing the Blue Devils 14-13 on April 15. Perroni led the offense with a team-high six points and a season-high five goals. Negai Nakazawa had a career-high four points, earning her first hat trick. Addeche recorded 17 saves and a .567 save percentage.
