Sara Addeche ties program record for saves in a game for second-straight game.
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Two record performances were not enough as the University of Louisville lacrosse team fell 15-9 to No. 7 Notre Dame on Thursday at the Arlotta Family Lacrosse Stadium.
With the loss, Louisville falls to 5-11 on the year and 2-7 in Atlantic Coast Conference play. Notre Dame advances to 12-4 on the season and 6-3 in the ACC.
Nicole Perroni broke the school record for consecutive games scoring a goal. Her goal-scoring streak of 35 has been continued for almost two years, beginning on April 24, 2021.
Sara Addeche tied the program record for single-game saves for the second-straight game. The goalie recorded 17 saves with a .531 save percentage.
"Our start was horrendous," said head coach Scott Teeter. "Anytime you spot a team an eight goal lead, it is tough to come back from, especially against a top ten team. Then, we settled in and played really well for the remaining three quarters."
Notre Dame scored eight unanswered goals in the first quarter to start the game.
Hannah Morris got the Cardinals on the board with a goal five minutes into the second quarter. The Irish scored two straight before UofL answered back. Alexa Steffens shot in a goal on an assist from Tiffany Natoli. On a dish from Morris, Kokoro Nakazawa earned her first goal of the game. Rian Adkins scored her third career goal on a free position. Sara Addeche recorded nine saves in the first half as the Cards enter the locker room down 10-4 at the half.
The Irish scored again but Nakazawa scored a second goal four minutes into the second half. Notre Dame shot in another goal, but the Cards scored three straight to put UofL down 12-8. Nakazawa earned a hat trick, Morris scored on a free position attempt, and Nicole Perroni earned her only goal of the game.
Morris scored on her second free position attempt to earn her second-straight hat trick. The Cards were down 12-9 with eight minutes left. The Irish scored three straight in the final five minutes.
Morris and Nakazawa led the Cardinals with four points each. Morris recorded one ground ball.
Maggie Foster led the defense with four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Addeche has recorded four ground balls and one caused turnover.
