Taylor Roby extends her single season home run total to 17, tying UofL single season record
Taylor Roby connected on three home runs, one in the first game and two in the second, to extend her season tally to 17 – tying Louisville's program record set by Courtney Moore in the 2005 season. Hannah File also tallied a trio of homers, two in the first game and one in the second, bringing her season total to nine. Korbe Otis cranked out a home run in each game and extended her school-record reached base streak to 35.
Louisville (28-14) will return to action on Wednesday with a road game at Western Kentucky before heading to Charlottesville, Va., for a three-game Atlantic Coast Conference series at Virginia.
Louisville 10 – Oakland 5
The Cardinals belted out four home runs with two from Hannah File, and one each by Taylor Roby and Korbe Otis. Daisy Hess went 3-for-3 with a double, scored two runs and had a pair of stolen bases. Alyssa Zabala surrendered one earned run on three hits and struck out three while Sam Booe delivered four strikeouts and gave up four earned runs on five hits in 3.1 innings of relief.
A two-out solo shot by File in the bottom of the first opened the scoring for Louisville. The Cards extended their lead to 5-0 in the second, capitalizing four hits, including a triple by Sarah Gordon, an RBI single by Hess and Otis' two-run homer.
The Golden Grizzlies (12-15) got on the board with Madi Herrington's RBI double in the third.
Louisville quickly countered with five more runs in the home half of the third, starting with back-to-back home runs by File and Roby. Paige Geraghty chipped in an RBI hit and Easton Lotus added a two-run single.
Oakland battled back in the fifth, using four hits to plate four runs, bringing the score to 10-5. Booe went on to retire the last six batters she faced to finish the game.
Sydney Campbell (11-6) took the loss, allowing seven earned runs on seven hits in 2.0 innings. Madi Herrington and Jen Krizka drove in two runs apiece.
Louisville 9 – Oakland 1 (6 inn.)
In the second half of Sunday's doubleheader, the Cards tied a season high with 16 hits, nine of them for extra bases. Roby registered a pair of home runs - tying the school's single season record – and drove in three runs. She also picked up the win in the circle, improving her record to 8-5 after surrendering one unearned run on two hits and striking out three in 3.2 innings.
The game also included impressive offensive performances by several players. Otis went 2-for-4 with a home run, a stolen base and scored three runs. File went 2-for-2 with a home run, a double and two RBI. Elana Ornelas went 2-for-2 with an RBI double and Easton Lotus finished the game with a double, a triple and scored two runs to help lead the Cards at the plate.

The home half of the second brought three more runs, with Lotus' RBI triple and Roby's two-run homer. Louisville's offense continued in the fourth when Otis singled and scored File's double.
The Cards used four more hits to cap the scoring with two runs in the sixth. Lotus got the inning started with a double and scored an RBI hit by Maddi Grant. Two outs later, Hess singled to put two runners on for Ornelas smacked an RBI double for the 9-1 win.
NOTES:
• Roby extended her career home run total to a school-record 57.
• With 17 homers in the 2023 campaign, Roby has now tied UofL's single season record set by Courtney Moore in the 2005 season.
• Otis has now reached safely in 35 straight games dating back to the Feb. 18 win over Illinois in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Overall, she has reached via a hit or walk in all but two of Louisville's 42 games.
• With four runs scored on the day, Otis moves into a tie for fifth with Katie Keller (2014) on Louisville's single-season record list. She needs three more to move into a tie for fourth with Carmyn Greenwood (2022). Melissa Roth owns the record with 64 runs scored in the 2009 season.
