Cards Hit the Road for Western Kentucky

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville will hit the road for its fifth straight non-conference game on Wednesday when the Cards travel to Bowling Green, Ky. to face in-state rival Western Kentucky.

• UofL brings a 28-14 overall record into the week after sweeping Oakland State in a doubleheader Sunday.
• In 42 games, the Cardinals have produced 10 shutouts and 10 wins via the eight-run rule.
• Louisville is batting .323 as a team with five players hitting above .300.
• Entering the week, Otis leads the ACC and is tied for third in the nation with seven triples. She also paces the team with a .427 batting average, 56 hits, 25 walks and 51 runs.
• Otis has reached base safely via a hit or walk in the last 35 games - setting a new school record with a walk in the game against top-ranked Oklahoma. She broke the previous record of 32 set by Maryssa Becker in the 2015 season. Overall, Otis has reached base via a hit or walk in all but two of Louisville's 42 games.
• Otis the ACC in runs scored – stands tied for fifth on Louisville's single season list with 51.
• Taylor Roby is second in the ACC and stands tied for fourth in the NCAA with 17 home runs and owns the school's career mark with 57.
• With 17 home runs on the season, Roby currently stands tied for first Louisville's single season list with Courtney Moore (2005).
• Alyssa Zabala leads the team with 12 wins and 72 strikeouts in 86.2 innings while Roby carries a team-best 2.25 ERA with 52 Ks in 87.0 innings of work.

Head coach Holly Aprile is in her fifth season as UofL's head coach. During her time at the helm – which includes the COVID-19 impacted 2020 season, Aprile guided the Cardinals to 122 wins and an NCAA regional final appearance in 2019.
• Prior to her arrival at Louisville, Aprile, the 2018 ACC Coach of the Year spent 10 seasons (2009-18) as Pittsburgh's head coach and five years (2004-08) as an assistant. In 2018, she earned ACC Coach of the Year honors after leading the Panthers to the 2018 ACC Coastal Division title and a runner-up finish in the ACC tournament.

Last Meeting: March 13, 2021 -Louisville won 3-0 at Ulmer Stadium.
Scouting the Hilltoppers: Western Kentucky enters Wednesday's game with a 23-17 overall record. Last weekend, the Hilltoppers went 1-2 in a Conference USA series with MTSU.
